Nordhavn
Our new roastery in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn district reflects the industrial past of this former port area. Here, original utilitarian red-brick buildings sit side by side with modern glass and steel, telling the story of the almost total regeneration of the area over the past decade.

Architecture
The roastery building is split into three distinct spaces, the coffee bar, the production, and the quality control room. In the coffee bar we aim to reflect Nordhavn most closely, by bringing the rough brick landscape into the space. Here, the floors, seats, bar and surfaces are made from brick, finding new expressions within original Nordhavn materials. The production space maintains its raw concrete feel, allowing for the smooth consistent flow and daily ritual of our roastery production. From the coffee bar, the view into the production is filtered though the quality control room. This space is home to some of the most vital aspects of our work; our sourcing and quality team are based here in the heart of the roastery. This is reflected in the contrasting material choice, highlighting the space with a softer wooden expression.
These different views and expressions allow different experiences from within the cafe space; it is almost impossible to decode the space based on one aspect, or from a photograph. We always design with in-person visitors in mind, creating spaces with complexity that reflect those who use them. This is also reflected in our considered lighting and acoustic design, aiming for a comfortable and refined experience.
