Farshad Farzankia

Farshad is a long term friend. He has known Paw Gissel for nearly a decade, travelling together and sharing many mutual friends in creative Copenhagen. We met again in Farshad’s Copenhagen atelier; immersed in his vibrant universe, a stark contrast to his calm and open nature.

In Rituals, we witness this contrast first hand, a slow conversation with a dear friend, one who continues to inspire us with his growing reputation as one of Denmark’s most talented and sought-after artists.

Iranian-born Farshad has always been fascinated by how colours, photography and typography combine to form magazine features, advertisements and artworks.

Farshad was raised in Denmark, where his obsession continued, immersing himself in worlds of film and music.

"I remember caring about certain things back then, and kind of relating to some of them, and in a way, feeling a bit paralysed by it all. Because it was like I couldn’t really respond to it in the real world."

Farshad’s response came through his painting. The varying themes and iconography in his work mirror a tumultuous upbringing, from post revolution Tehran to teenage years struggling to find a place as a newcomer in a homogeneous society north of Copenhagen.

"I just think that, as people, we’re all sensitive in some way, so when something comes in, we somehow have to get it out again. And it goes through a kind of process in our head, or in our stomach, whatever it might be."

Rituals

We seek inspiration both within and outside our field, collaborating with talented creatives who share our drive, passion, and curiosity about various aspects of life. Each of these connections, however fleeting, has shaped how we create and share coffee experiences.

Rituals is our tribute to these connections, a virtual journal that captures the ephemeral moments where everything clicks, where a vision is sparked, and the perspective shifts. It’s a memoir in constant motion, where each new notion glints in the glow of all that came before.

With Rituals, we celebrate the people and places that inspire us, set amidst the vibrant cities that breathe life into their work.
